A local builder in Parry Sound approached Habitat Muskoka in December of 2010, asking how a Habitat build could take place in his community. An information night was organized with the help of Ellen Frood, Executive Director of Habitat Muskoka. After discussing the possible challenges and opportunities, the Board of Directors of HFH Muskoka approved and signed an agreement with the steering committee in Parry Sound to form an Adopt-A-Home partnership.
The group in Parry Sound is fundraising, learning the roles and responsibilities of each of their committees, informing residents of their mission, fundraising, and working with Habitat Muskoka to complete this project. The town council of Parry Sound is supportive and has donated a building lot.
